Hildreland is the dream of a forgotten land that hides in the depths somewhere. Only very rarely does this submerged mythical land rise up to the surface, offering food, prosperity and happiness. All the things that were so often lacking in the daily life of the coastal folk, who battled for their existence in the toughest conditions and knew only too well how the ocean gave and the ocean took away. Northern Norway’s first great author, Regine Normann, tells the tale of the princess of Hildreland, of mirages on the horizon. We who live along the coast here in the north have always known tough conditions. But on the outer limits of Vesterålen, legendary Hildreland lives on. The ocean adventure. The magical dream.
